What is a combined AuDHD assessment?
AuDHD is an informal term for autism and ADHD occurring together. Assessment considers the evidence for each and their effect on daily life.
Autistic experiences
- sensory or social-communication differences;
- a need for predictability or focused interests; and
- masking, shutdowns or burnout.
ADHD experiences
- differences in attention, memory, time or starting tasks;
- impulsivity, restlessness or novelty-seeking; and
- difficulty managing daily demands despite effort.
Why assess both?
- One set of traits can obscure the other.
- Coping may work in one setting but not another.
- A previous diagnosis may not explain the full picture.

How is assessment information brought together?
Assessment can draw on an ADHD interview such as DIVA-5, an autism interview such as MIGDAS-2, selected rating scales, developmental history and daily-life examples. No single tool or score determines a diagnosis.
AuDHD assessment questions
What is AuDHD?
AuDHD is an informal term for co-occurring autism and ADHD. A combined assessment considers whether the diagnostic criteria for autism, ADHD or both are met, alongside other possible explanations.
Why can AuDHD be missed?
Autistic and ADHD traits can look different from one setting to another. Coping strategies, masking, a previous diagnosis or an incomplete stereotype can make the overall pattern less obvious.
Do I need childhood documents?
Childhood information can be helpful, but not everyone has old reports or family input. Assessment can usually begin with the information available.
Can assessment guarantee NDIS access or medication?
No. A report may provide useful clinical information, but NDIS decisions are made separately and medication requires medical review.
Are sessions available in Cantonese or Mandarin?
Sessions are offered in English, Cantonese or Mandarin.
